For those who have read and loved
Lucy Maud Montgomery's novel Anne of Green Gables or any of the 20-some which
followed, as well as those who have seen and appreciated the video version, a
tour of Anne's Land is a must. There are many sites which recognize the
importance of the story and the relationship between the author, her characters,
the Island landscape and the legion of fans from all around the world.
The Prince Edward Island
National Park protects the spectacular shoreline of much of this region,
a coast made up of miles of white sandy beaches and grass covered dunes,
alternating with rugged, red sandstone cliffs.
The region
is known as an area of great scenic beauty, and photographers will not
be disappointed by a tour along routes 6 and 20. This is the countryside
Montgomery described in her books, and it has changed little since
Anne of Green Gables was first published 100 years ago.
