A turn of the century summer gathering location for many of New York`s
aristocratic theatre crowd, Fortune has been the scene of a variety of
historic events over the course of the last 150 years. From the early
19th century tenants farmers who rebelled against their absentee
landlords, a series of events which eventually brought major land reform
to the entire province, to providing the setting for American playwright
Elmer Harris` "Johnny Belinda", Fortune has long been a centre of
activity in Kings County.
Today, Harris` original home has been restored
and now houses the beautiful Inn at Bay Fortune. Featuring a four-star
restaurant which boasts a dazzling array of culinary masterpieces, the
Inn exudes all the elegance and regal beauty so intrinsically linked
with the Fortune Peninsula.
