Famous the world over for its delicious Oysters, thought to be the
finest in the world, Malpeque Bay`s name is derived from the Mik`maq
word meaning "big bay". Cutting deeply into Prince County, Malpeque Bay
helps to form with Bedeque Bay the narrowest isthmus of land on P.E.I.
A land of captivating beauty, the Malpeque region is a splendid area of
secluded beaches back dropped by the gentle waters of the bay.
Cabot Beach Provincial Park provides a lovely picnic area for visitors while
the beautifully restored St. Mary`s Church in Indian River offers
various classical music concerts as well as the Indian River Festival,
held annually during mid-summer.
