The town of Montague, located in Kings County, was incorporated in
1917. Marketed as “Montague The Beautiful” because of the
tranquil river running through the town, the lovely tree-lined streets and the
stately heritage homes, the natural scenery, exceptional walking trails, lush
vegetation and general prosperity make this a beautiful scenic town. Montague
has all of the necessary services to help with your travel needs.
The surrounding area is characterized by rolling countryside,
peaceful rivers, picturesque beaches and vibrant colors: the brilliant
violet of the lupins that line the the roadways in spring, the green of
the summer grass and fields, and the kaleidoscope of hues in the autumn
leaves.
In the heart of Montague is the wharf and marina. Enjoy the boardwalk which runs
along the waterfront and is part of the Confederation Trail. There is plenty of
parking and there is a ramp for wheelchair access.
While in Montague be sure and visit the Harvey Moore Waterfowl Park, a haven for
migrating birds such as Canada geese and black ducks. A pleasant one-hour trail
meanders its way through the park, taking you through various woodland types and open fields.
At the Roma Historic Site enjoy the scenery, try out the walking trails, and
explore the exhibits. This Historical Recreation of the first French Settlement
offers the pioneer experience and guided heritage tours. This settlement is
being reconstructed to bring us back in time.
